Phu Phan Kham National Park - Thailand Travel Guide

Phu Phan Kham National Park
Khon Kaen

Covering an area of 320 square kilometres and taking in parts of Nong Bua Lamphu and Khon Kaen provinces, Phu Phan Kham National Park is located in the Phu Phan Mountains encompassing two major ranges: Phu Khlao and Phu Phan Kham. The park is home to a variety of wildlife including deer, monkeys and a few elephants and tigers. The mountains are thick with forests and the park’s trails take you past a number of good waterfalls including Tat Ton, Hew Sin Chai and Kham Hom. Phu Phan Kham National Park has a number of other attractions including Tham Seri Thai cave where the Seri Thai fought alongside the allies during the Japanese administration of Thailand. There are other caves with prehistoric wall paintings. In addition, the Ubonrat reservoir offers boating and fishing activities. The camp has guesthouses and camp sites (although visitors must bring their own tents). This is a good park to visit for hiking, picnics and general relaxation, but a visit is probably going to take up an entire day.

How to get there: The headquarters of the park are on the Ubonrat-Non Sang Road and songtaews are available to the site from Khon Kaen city.
